What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that works to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. The injections are medically administered and help relax certain wrinkle-causing muscles in the face to create a natural, subtle rejuvenation of your appearance. These cosmetic injections are some of the most popular “wrinkle reducing” methods.

The minimally invasive procedure has a wide variety of clinical uses, it can also be used for Hyperhidrosis(excessive sweating), and for the treatment of TMJ(temporomandibular joint) problems/Bruxism.

What is the difference between Anti-wrinkle injections and Dermal fillers?

Anti-wrinkle injections can relax, and lift certain muscles in the face to help prevent further creasing of the skin, ultimately softening lines.

Dermal fillers can replace volume and enhance facial features. Dermal fillers are not the same as muscle relaxant injections, which work by stopping muscle movement under the skin, whilst Dermal fillers "plump" up your skin, by delicately filling in creases which may not be erased by anti-wrinkle treatments. Dermal fillers are particularly effective if the lines have been present for many years.

How long do Anti-wrinkle injections take to work?

Anti-wrinkle injections have minimal downtime, with the best results being seen about two weeks afterwards, lasting up to 3-6 months. While fine lines may be reduced quickly, deeper creases  may take longer.

Are Anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Anti-wrinkle injections have been used safely for many years. These non-surgical treatments are medical procedures and therefore are not free of side effects and possible complication, which is why it is important when considering anti-wrinkle treatment, to choose a practitioner who is qualified to perform the procedure. In rare cases, the Anti-wrinkle Injection medication can spread beyond the desired muscle when injected in the frown region and may cause temporary drooping of the upper eyelid. This is rare in the hands of an experienced Practitioner.

What are the side effects of Anti-wrinkle injections?

Generally there are very few side effects associated with Anti-wrinkle injections and most are resolved quite quickly(redness and minor swelling at the injection site). The effects of Anti-wrinkle injections are temporary and have been used for cosmetic and medical purposes for over two decades. Swelling and small bruises which can appear, are generally mild in appearance and are easily covered with make-up. These side-effects are transient in nature, and usually settle over the following week.
